Welcome to my home

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope all of you have had an amazing day/weekend. I personally have had a wonderful weekend. I got to spend time with my future husband, take my bridal portraits, and decorate my future home. I love those weekend were you get to relax but feel somewhat accomplished. I can't believe I will be a Simmons in 13 days !!!!!! I am so excited to marry my best friend as of 4 1/2 years and spend the rest of my life with him. Funny story..... About 3 years into dating Chad had a "surprise" for me. Little did I know he was showing me my future home. He took me down a long country road and we pulled into this junk hole. I looked at him and didn't understand what he was showing me. Come to find out his plan was to remodel this home. Guys, I can't emphasize enough how big of a junk hole this property was. If you click on the "interior design" button on my blog and scroll way down you can see the before and after pictures of this place I am talking about. Anyways, this home was owned by a man who liked running poker houses. So to put it into better words..... my future home is a poker house. I guess dreams do come true.. JK. Thankfully Chad was dating a interior designer at the time and I knew what I was doing when it came to remodeling homes. I have always had a passion for making homes look and feel beautiful. I really wanted to make this home special because I kinda had a feeling this is the place I was going to live one day (so I did just that). After a good 6 months of construction the house was completed.

Long story short I am moving into my dream home in 2 weeks and I am so blessed that Chad took the leap of faith in letting me decorate and design our future home. Just some tips when remodeling. 1. Always Always Always do a dark and a light. Either do a dark kitchen and light floors or either light kitchen and dark floors. It makes a huge difference in how things appear. 2. Always pick the best light fixtures. Light fixtures are one of the cheapest ways to make a home look and feel stylish. 3. Add your touch. Everyone always has a different style and it's important to make your home feel like YOURS. 4. Cabinet knobs are so cheap and so minor but they make the world of difference. 5. Add a glass cabinet or two to showoff some of your nicest items. The glass cabinets make our kitchen look and feel like home and I am so happy I did it.

Can't wait to show you guys more.

Mudroom and bedroom will be next :)

LET YOUR HAIR DO THE TALKING

Happy Thursday!

It is a beautiful day here in VA. We finally get a week without humidity. I love VA because we get to experience all of the season changes throughout the year, but I have a very hard time enjoying the month of August. IT’S BEEN SO HOT!

Since today was the first day that semi felt like fall, I wanted to show you guys one of my favorite looks for this upcoming fall. First of all this hair!!!! I wish I could say it was natural, but it’s not. I have always been a person who loves to look natural and real but I knew when I put these hair extensions in that I was going to wear them everyday. I highly recommend Barefoot Blonde hair extensions. They are so beautiful and easy! I am wearing the color sandy blonde and they match perfectly.
To achieve this look I put in about 6 out of the 10 wefts that it comes with. I parted my hair in the middle and then started french braiding each side. To get the thick look you HAVE to pull apart your braids! Just a secret about me I am in love with the owner of this hair extension line and if I could look/be anyone in the world it would be her. Follow her on instagram to see why.... @amberfillerup.

Now, lets talk about this outfit. It's pretty causal but I am digging it for fall. I am so excited that floral pants are in style because who doesn't like flower pants? I will be honest I always struggle trying to figure out which top/shoes to wear with floral pants, but I think I have finally found the solution. First, wear a silk baby doll top. Second, wear a loose lightweight sweater/coverup. Lastly, I think chunky shoes always make a statement and that's why I chose the above.

Gingham is always a good idea

Happy Friday Eve!!!!

I am so excited that it is all most Friday! Not only because it's the weekend, but because it's my bachelorette weekend! YAY! All of my favorite girlfriends are coming down to celebrate with me, and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Talk about busy! I have been so busy with work/wedding planning these last few weeks. Not only have I been planning my wedding, but my very very best friend got married 2 weekends ago! I feel like I haven't had any time to do anything these last few weeks with how busy I have been, but I honestly wouldn't want it any other way.

I have always been very good with stress. I am the type of person who likes to stay busy.  If I am not staying busy I feel like I haven't accomplished much. I am looking forward to relaxing on my honeymoon though :)  I really am so excited about fall coming up, but I also feel like it hasn't been summer yet because I haven't went on vacation at all. So right after the honeymoon I know I will get my summer fix.

Tonight I went into Tjmaxx (which is typical) and found so many cute items. I noticed they were transitioning from summer to fall so they had a lot of great items. The above jeans are Lucky Brand and I purchased those in Tjmaxx for $28. I also have been eyeing these amazing shoes for over a month now and just couldn't make myself buy them. Tonight they were on clearance for $12 so I snatched them up very quick (and I am happy I did).

Also, I managed to do my hair in 5 minutes. I twisted 2 strands halfway down and then turned it into a normal braid once I was halfway down. To make a statement I always pull apart my braids to make them look extra thick. Check Barefoot Blonde Hair out if you have always wanted hair extensions I highly recommend.

Skirt Of Many Colors

Happy Sunday!

Sundays are made for pretty outfits & Jesus! I have always loved Sundays, because its a day of rest. I love getting up and going to church and then getting lunch and doing nothing the rest of the day! It's the best.

This outfit is perfect for a summer day! I bought this skirt at LOFT for $18 yes $18!!!!! It is such a fun skirt for any occasion. You can dress this skirt up with heels like I did above or dress it down with cute flip-flops. It looks great either way. The hat is from H&M and it was under $10! I added a ANN TAYLOR scarf to the hat for a little more detail.

You can't forget about the purse! I bought this at TJMAXX for under $20! I am loving the rattan purses everyone has been carrying lately.

This week is about to be one of the busiest EVER!

1. I have my 1st wedding shower on Tuesday evening and I am so excited I could cry!

2. My best friend gets married this weekend and I am the maid of honor so I have a LOT to do this week to prepare for her special day!

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great week.

The Perfect Flare

Happy Father's day! We had a wonderful day celebrating my dad! We enjoyed steaks by the pool and then went swimming afterwards. The look above is one of my very favorites, and I am so excited to share it with you guys! First, this hair style was completed in 3 minutes, and is the perfect hair style for curly damp pool hair. I have natural wavy hair and it has been incredibly humid here in VA the last few days, and my hair is unstoppable.  I can't do anything with my hair when it's humid, so I decided to throw it up into a braid crown. This is my very first time completing this look, and I honestly LOVE IT! I am wearing my barefoot blonde hair extensions to add length to complete this look. Second, these pants are to die for. I am currently OBSESSED with extra flare jeans. I think they are so classic. I always try and add a little pop of color when wearing flare jeans so I like adding scarfs to my pants. I like wearing colorful earrings to create a better look. Also, can we talk about this purse? I am a huge fan of anything rattan. This rattan purse was under $25 and it look identical to the J.Crew one that cost $80! I bought the above rattan purse at Tjmaxx. Let's be honest Tjmaxx is bae!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

The Pom Pom Dress

Happy Thursday!

I am so happy tomorrow is Friday! Chad is going to be out of town, which means this girl gets to relax all weekend. I need a break! I feel like I have been going none stop since April. I hope all of you get to relax this weekend as well.

The above outfit is a find at the Jcrew Clearance sale back in March! I knew when I saw this puppy I had to get it. (It was only $15, I repeat $15) I have always been the type to clearance shop ALWAYS! I do not buy anything full price. Since I went to Liberty University JCrew's main headquarters is in lynchburg, which meant all the Liberty students got the sale stuff (I wasn't complaining). This hair style is one of my favorites because on a hot summer day it's a easy style to keep away from your face (and super cute). I am wearing barefoot blonde hair to give my ponytail a little extra volume. Once I completed the ponytail I just wrapped a few extra pieces around the pony tail holder to give it a softer look.

Jacket: J.Crew
Dress: J.Crew
Shoes: TJmaxx
Purse: Talbots
Hair: Barefoot Blonde
Earrings: Kendra Scott

Soon to be Simmons

Happy Monday everyone!

As most of you know I am ENGAGED!!!!! I can't believe I finally get to say that! I have got lots of questions on how he proposed. This blog post is all about Chad and I, and how we met, and then I will get into the proposal. So on March 29th 2013, Chad and I were "set up" by my uncle. I met Chad at a church Easter play (the church I know attend). I went to Halesford Baptist to watch the Easter production, and who would have ever thought that is where I would meet husband? My uncle, Chads family, and I went to Wendy's after the Easter play and grabbed something quick and sat down and talked the rest of the evening. I guess that is when Chad figured out he wanted to ask me out on a date. After that night we were together everyday. Fun Fact: My aunt always told me to pray specifics, and God will give it to you if he wants you to have it. So I prayed that the lord would send me a cowboy who loves Jesus and he gave me just that!!!!!! Jesus is so cool. I am very thankful I get to  marry someone who loves Jesus and puts him first.

Now its time for the proposal!

On August 27th 2017 Chad Simmons asked me to marry him. How? Funny story. Actually it's not that funny but I sure do love that man. August 27th was a Saturday and Chad told me he wanted to go for a boat ride early that morning, so that is what we did. We took the boat out and stopped and got lunch and ate on the water (that was fun). After we ate lunch Chad took me to a cove and asked me " what I got him for his birthday" (his birthday was 4 days before this). I responded "I haven't got you anything yet, I told you I would let you pick it out". He said,"What if I told you I wanted to marry you as my birthday gift". WOW WOW WOW! I did not see that coming. Chad got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Side note: I said yes before he even asked!!!! After that amazing surprise we met our friends at one of the nicest restaurants on Smith Mountain Lake and celebrated the evening. That was the BEST day of my entire life and I am so happy I get to become a Simmons.

Wedding date: September 9th of THIS year.
