Easter Dress

Happy Monday everyone! The weekend went by so fast, but I am ready to get this week started. It is a busy week at work because we are gearing up for High Point Market which is only 3 weeks away!
I can't believe it!

I wanted to share with you guys my Easter Sunday dress as well as my dress I will be wearing at High Point Market this year. I know I always say "my favorite outfit of all time" in like every post but this is really my favorite dress I have ever worn. I am such a fan of long dresses. I feel so classy and modest in them. I have always been afraid to wear them because I am only 5'3". I have actually come to find out that they are my favorite style to wear. It makes me look taller and slimmer.

I bought this dress at Tjmaxx and it was only $25. I paired it with pink earrings I got from tjmaxx as well that for $12.99. I am going to pair this dress with some espadrilles.

Happy First Snow Day!

I hope everyone had an amazing Friday! I took the day off and enjoyed some Christmas shopping with my momma! Then I came home and took the longest nap EVER! It is something about taking a nap when its snowing that makes you feel like you are literally in heaven!

I have always enjoyed the snow and I really enjoy all that comes with it! Naps, pictures, fireplaces, blankets, and hot coco! It's always the most wonderful time of the year!

I found this amazing dress on Cyber Monday at Old Navy.com for only $24! It came in the mail this week and I think it might be my favorite dress of all time. I love the perfect length of this dress. I also snagged up these booties at Macy's.com on Cyber Monday for $34 and it was buy a pair get a pair free!

I have lots of content coming to the blog soon, and I am so excited to share all of my great outfit finds with you!

Happy Friday Eve!!!!

I am so excited that it is all most Friday! Not only because it's the weekend, but because it's my bachelorette weekend! YAY! All of my favorite girlfriends are coming down to celebrate with me, and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Talk about busy! I have been so busy with work/wedding planning these last few weeks. Not only have I been planning my wedding, but my very very best friend got married 2 weekends ago! I feel like I haven't had any time to do anything these last few weeks with how busy I have been, but I honestly wouldn't want it any other way.

I have always been very good with stress. I am the type of person who likes to stay busy.  If I am not staying busy I feel like I haven't accomplished much. I am looking forward to relaxing on my honeymoon though :)  I really am so excited about fall coming up, but I also feel like it hasn't been summer yet because I haven't went on vacation at all. So right after the honeymoon I know I will get my summer fix.

Tonight I went into Tjmaxx (which is typical) and found so many cute items. I noticed they were transitioning from summer to fall so they had a lot of great items. The above jeans are Lucky Brand and I purchased those in Tjmaxx for $28. I also have been eyeing these amazing shoes for over a month now and just couldn't make myself buy them. Tonight they were on clearance for $12 so I snatched them up very quick (and I am happy I did).

Also, I managed to do my hair in 5 minutes. I twisted 2 strands halfway down and then turned it into a normal braid once I was halfway down. To make a statement I always pull apart my braids to make them look extra thick. Check Barefoot Blonde Hair out if you have always wanted hair extensions I highly recommend.

The Skirt of Many Colors

Happy Sunday!

Sundays are made for pretty outfits & Jesus! I have always loved Sundays, because its a day of rest. I love getting up and going to church and then getting lunch and doing nothing the rest of the day! It's the best.

This outfit is perfect for a summer day! I bought this skirt at LOFT for $18 yes $18!!!!! It is such a fun skirt for any occasion. You can dress this skirt up with heels like I did above or dress it down with cute flip-flops. It looks great either way. The hat is from H&M and it was under $10! I added a ANN TAYLOR scarf to the hat for a little more detail.

You can't forget about the purse! I bought this at TJMAXX for under $20! I am loving the rattan purses everyone has been carrying lately.

This week is about to be one of the busiest EVER!

1. I have my 1st wedding shower on Tuesday evening and I am so excited I could cry!

2. My best friend gets married this weekend and I am the maid of honor so I have a LOT to do this week to prepare for her special day!

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great week.

The Perfect Flare

Happy Father's day! We had a wonderful day celebrating my dad! We enjoyed steaks by the pool and then went swimming afterwards. The look above is one of my very favorites, and I am so excited to share it with you guys! First, this hair style was completed in 3 minutes, and is the perfect hair style for curly damp pool hair. I have natural wavy hair and it has been incredibly humid here in VA the last few days, and my hair is unstoppable.  I can't do anything with my hair when it's humid, so I decided to throw it up into a braid crown. This is my very first time completing this look, and I honestly LOVE IT! I am wearing my barefoot blonde hair extensions to add length to complete this look. Second, these pants are to die for. I am currently OBSESSED with extra flare jeans. I think they are so classic. I always try and add a little pop of color when wearing flare jeans so I like adding scarfs to my pants. I like wearing colorful earrings to create a better look. Also, can we talk about this purse? I am a huge fan of anything rattan. This rattan purse was under $25 and it look identical to the J.Crew one that cost $80! I bought the above rattan purse at Tjmaxx. Let's be honest Tjmaxx is bae!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

The Pom Pom Dress

Happy Thursday!

I am so happy tomorrow is Friday! Chad is going to be out of town, which means this girl gets to relax all weekend. I need a break! I feel like I have been going none stop since April. I hope all of you get to relax this weekend as well.

The above outfit is a find at the Jcrew Clearance sale back in March! I knew when I saw this puppy I had to get it. (It was only $15, I repeat $15) I have always been the type to clearance shop ALWAYS! I do not buy anything full price. Since I went to Liberty University JCrew's main headquarters is in lynchburg, which meant all the Liberty students got the sale stuff (I wasn't complaining). This hair style is one of my favorites because on a hot summer day it's a easy style to keep away from your face (and super cute). I am wearing barefoot blonde hair to give my ponytail a little extra volume. Once I completed the ponytail I just wrapped a few extra pieces around the pony tail holder to give it a softer look.

Espadrilles

Happy Wednesday!

Today is a wonderful day because I received the best package in the mail ever! I finally upgraded cameras. I officially am now a proud owner of a Canon 5D Mark iii with a 35mm 1.4 lens. Let me tell you, I HAVE BEEN MISSING OUT. I can't believe I have waited this long to buy a 5D. I have photographed multiple weddings these past few weekends and I decided that I needed an upgrade. I know I am capable of creating even better images, but it took me awhile to figure out I had to have the equipment to do so. Also, if you have't figured out yet, I AM ENGAGED!!!!! Yes, I said it, ENGAGED! OHHHHH and I am getting married September 9th of THIS year!!!!! Let's just say I am going to be a busy girl.

Anyways, the above outfit is one of my summer favorites. I am such a shoe freak and I always want the newest trend that is out. These tie up espadrilles are perfect with ANYTHING!

Spring Stripes

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday! Sorry I have been MIA the past couple of weeks. I was working out of town at High Point Furniture Market (so fun). I also have been re-thinking my blog a lot lately and really want to get this thing going. I know that blogs take a lot of work, but I am ready to get the show on the road. I have always enjoyed fashion, interiors, gardening, and anything in between. I have also added a category to my blog...... (I will announce later this week). The hardest part about blogging is getting someone to take the pictures for you. I am a photographer part time, so I am really picky about how things look. Usually, I get my mom and brother to take my pictures and they do the best they can. Today, for the above outfit my boyfriend took these, and he ACTUALLY did an amazing job. Super thankful for the supportive team I have. Another thing I struggle with and always have is my grammar and writing skills. I have never been the person to dig deep and write about things. I have always been super self conscious about my grammar/spelling, and my mother told me this week not to let that get in the way of anything I do in life. SHE IS SO RIGHT! Sometimes you just have to DO IT! I can't wait to start this journey and see where things go.

This outfit is one of my all time favorites!

Friends & Fashion

This weekend was one for the books! You know those friends where you can go a couple weeks without talking, but pick right back up where you left off? Yep, it's these 2 girls. We went to the Liberty University Fashion show on Saturday night and if you have not gone before it's a MUST! Last year I was actually a designer in the show and this year I was a ALUMNI watching (time goes so fast). Liberty University Fashion students have so much talent and I mean that! If you have not gone to a fashion show I highly recommend going to the LU one in April. Anyways.... when you go to a fashion show that calls for a mandatory dress up night.

My outfit details

Pants: TJmaxx
Shirt: Loft
Shoes: Target
Scarf: Madewell
Clutch : Grandmas (Talbots)

Dress: Altar'd State

Blush and Braids

I am loving the off the shoulder shirts this season. I am such a fan of girly clothes and I am so glad the girly looks are back! I found this off the shoulder shirt at Tjmaxx for $15 and it is going to get worn a lot this spring/summer. I got my Denim skirt from Target for $25 and it can be worn with any shirt.

A big trend right now is tucking just the front of your shirt into your pants/skirt. It makes a huge difference in how the outfit looks. There are so many different ways to tuck in your shirt. One of my favorites is half tucked half untucked when I am wearing a button up shirt, but for the shirt above I just tucked the front. It gives the outfit a little extra touch without spending anymore money. Also, add a cute braid to give the outfit another sweet touch.

Also, I am adding a really fun category soon to my blog so stay tuned. Hopefully it will come within the next few weeks!

Stay Beautiful

Monday Blues

Monday blues are the worst. Today in VA it's not only a Monday, it is a rainy Monday. But the only thing making this Monday a little brighter are these cute finds from Target! I am such a fan of denim, and Target never disappoints with their denim selection. I recently purchased this denim off the shoulder dress and it's not only amazing, its also comfortable. I highly recommend it.

I also purchased  denim shoes that wrap around the ankle. I am such a fan of ankle shoes, and these shoes make any outfit come together. They might be the most worn item in my closet this spring/summer.

Also, I got these adorable Baublebar Target earrings and they have been the best things EVER! I also believe blue earrings are the best statement to any outfit.

Stay beautiful

Winter or Spring? I'm not really sure!

Winter or Spring? I don't really know. I have found out over the years the "between seasons" are the hardest times to be fashionable. I know every morning I am running around trying to dress myself but always find myself asking the same question "is this okay for the season?" Truthfully, when the seasons are changing, I struggle with trying to figure out what to wear (and thats okay). I try and make my life easier with these 3 tips. And I hope it helps you too!

1. FIRST FIRST FIRST!!!! Look at the weather the night before to make sure the outfit you choose is appropriate for that day.

2. Plan ahead! I do this sometimes, but I am even guilty of not doing it. I try to have a little idea of what I am going to wear the next day, that way I am not in a rush in the morning. I also go on pinterest and look up a shirt or item I all ready have, and try to find the perfect outfit to go with that one item. (It helps a lot)

3. Always stay fashionable! I have always enjoyed dressing up my entire life, but the older I get the more I realize how important it is. Especially in my career as a designer. I know people wouldn't take me serious if I didn't dress up. I believe it makes a person feel more confident.  I am a strong believer in "dressing up makes for a productive day."

Liberty University Fashion Show 2016

About the Collection

I am honored to be in the 2016 Fashion show at Liberty University. The theme of the fashion show is Cosmos fashion. When I thought of the word cosmos, I thought of Astronauts, and the people who made it possible for us to know more about space. Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first steps by humans on another planetary body on July 20, 1969. The astronauts also returned to Earth the first samples from another planetary body. Apollo 11 achieved its primary mission - to perform a manned lunar landing and return the mission safely to Earth - and paved the way for the Apollo lunar landing missions to follow.
When creating my designs I put a lot of thought into “astronauts” and what they would wear in space, as well as their mission. For my first design I put a lot of attention on the American Flag. I believe it was important to put the American flag in my design, because what better honor than for America to land on the moon for the first time. That amazing honor of landing on the moon, made it into the American history books. This design was strictly based on America.
While creating my 2nd design I focused more on what astronauts wear while in space. Space can be dangerous. Astronauts need a space suit that protects them from extreme hot and cold. The space suit must have air so that astronauts can breathe. Astronauts can work outside in space if they're wearing a spacesuit. I went with a more chic white look for fabric choice, as well as a blue tent, and gold for a pop of color. I added lots of ruffles at the bottom of the dress for thickness. When deciding on hair from space, I was reminded of the Disney channel movie “Zenon”.  The two top buns represent space, and the uniqueness of the feminine way of life on the moon.
I am so honored to be apart of this experience and I can’t wait to get these beautiful pieces on the runway.

About the Designer

Hello my name is Skyler Wheeler; I am a designer for the 2016 Liberty University Fashion show. I am so honored to be apart of this lifetime opportunity.  I am a senior at Liberty University. I am majoring in Interior Design and getting a minor in business.  While I was growing up, I always watched my mom decorate the house. I have never met a better decorator than my mother, and she inspired me to go after my dream.
While I was growing up I use to write my own plays, direct them, create the set, and design the clothing for the performance. Then I actually got to take that skill to a new level, by doing that for my church for 6 years.  I also grew up drawing, painting, taking photos, and re decorating my room every chance I could get. Needless to say, I have always been a creative, unique individual. God, the creator, is the source of all creativity. And in creating man in his own image, he gave man gifts of creativity. Nothing excites me more than designing a project and creating it. I hope to turn my creativity into my career, and become a residential designer in the Smith Mountain Lake, and surrounding areas.
I have always been into fashion, and I love being up to date with everything I wear. Fashion has always intrigued me, because it makes a person unique. Each person has a different taste, and style when it comes to fashion. I don’t have a favorite “look” because I wear it all. I have always enjoyed drawing out fashion sketches, and I was so excited to actually turn my drawing into real life.
From this fashion show, I hope to further my knowledge about sketches, designing, and creating unique pieces for people to enjoy. I have learned to be patient, take chances, and enjoy the process as it goes. I am so excited to be apart of this fashion show at Liberty University, and take my creativity to a whole new level.

Hello guys, I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas break and a happy New Year (I know I have). Today’s post is very special to my heart, because I have worked very hard on this particular thing I am going to be sharing with you all. As some of you may know I was accepted into the 2016 Fashion Show at Liberty University. To give you some more detail, I came up with a fashion sketch (shown in the picture) I turned in my fashion sketch and  it got approved. I couldn’t believe that my sketch got approved, but I was so excited about this journey. After my sketch got approved all of the fun things started to happen.
As a designer it is important to find the right model to wear the attire you created. Once I figured out what I was designing, I then was on the search for a model. The fashion show program had model casting, which is when people come try out for a position in the fashion show. As people strutted down the aisle, this one particular girl caught my eye. This beautiful girl had dark hair, and GREAT eyebrows (well I ended up getting her). Once my model was chosen I had to get measurements and sizes to start the designing process. Well as of tonight I started creating my 2 dresses I will be presenting in the Fashion Show in April. I just want all of you to know that I have never sewn an outfit in my entire life, but it is so fun to take chances and just DO IT (as Nike says). As in the picture below that is just the outline to an amazing dress that should be done in 2 weeks! Once I finish my dresses I will post them and show you the final product!

Thanks for reading!

Happy Thursday everyone!! I am super pumped about the blog today because we have another special guest!!!! My brother Braxton Wheeler has wore one of the cutest outfits this summer, and I thought you ladies could get a great idea for your husbands/boyfriends. Braxton has always dressed very preppy but this outfit got the most compliments. I do have to give credit to his girlfriend for the purchase of this outfit (she did a great job).  This outfit looked so great on him and I would recommend this look to any guy.
The entire outfit came from Tommy Hilfiger. Tommy Hilfiger has impressed me with their clothes in the past couple of years because they wash up great, and always seem to stay very classy.

Happy Hump Day!!! I hope each one of you has had a blessed and wonderful Wednesday (I know I have). Today was a busy day for me, because I started packing some of my clothes up to take to college.
Today I have a special guest on my blog, and I am super excited to share with you one of her cutest outfits! Ashleigh is my very best friend and she has inspired me so much to always look my best wherever I go. Ashleigh is so unique when it comes to fashion, and she always looks so fashionable everywhere she goes. Ashleigh is one of my roommates in college, and she is super fun living with, because we share clothes (TALK ABOUT A BLESSING). Ashleigh always inspires me to do great things with my life as well as being the best friend a girl could ask for.
This outfit she is wearing is adorable (wouldn’t you agree?) The shirt came from Altar’d State and is very unique and can be worn with just about anything. Her jeans came from H&M for a very reasonable price. You can’t forget about the shoes, these shoes make a huge statement for this outfit! The shoes came from Old Navy.  Lastly, the adorable blue earrings came from Kendra Scott. You can never go wrong with too much Kendra Scott. What a fun and adorable outfit for you to try!

Good morning, I hope all of you have had a great morning so far. Since summer is drawing close to an end, I thought it would be a great time to share one of my favorite summer outfits. This outfit was very easy to put together, because all of the colors blended well together. I am such a fan of J.Crew’s polka dot skirt. This skirt has been one of my favorite pieces this season. The comfort of the skirt was great, as well as the modest length.  I also am a HUGE fan of J.Crew’s jewelry!!!!!!! I love fancy bling to make the outfits I wear pop even more. The blue necklace I wear with this outfit is one of the prettiest pieces I own.  To make this outfit a little simpler I wear a white tank top, and tuck it into my skirt. It’s the perfect look for the summer season.
YOU CANT FORGET ABOUT THE SHOES!!!!! I love the glitter flats that Gap has made this summer. (SUPPER FASHIONABLE, and comfy) I got these flats at the Gap outlet and they were only $13.
Enjoy the last few weeks of summer, with a cozy, modest outfit that looks adorable.

Happy Monday!!!! I know everyone is getting back in the grove of things, since summer is drawing close to an end. I know many of you are headed back to work, and praying the week goes by fast, so you can enjoy another fun filled weekend. I know college students are heading back soon (including myself) , so today I am going to share some of my favorite back to school outfits.
I am such a fan of GAP!!!! (YES, GAP) Gap has always been my go to, when everything else disappoints. This summer season they have had a great selection of classy, modest, and the perfect go to outfit for each occasion.
First I’d love to brag on their boyfriend cut jeans, (OMG) they are the best things that have ever been invented. I like to brag on these jeans because I don’t even have to try them on, because they all fit the exact same way. Boyfriend cut jeans can be dressed up or down. They’re perfect for the dinner date you have planned, if you put a fancy silk shirt with them and heels, or they go great with a t-shirt and sneakers.
Secondly, I love their open toe booties!!!!!!!! I have wanted a pair of these bad boys for several months, and I finally have them (talk about comfy). These booties go great with ANYTHING!!!! I can’t wait to wear them to class this semester. These booties are the perfect in-between shoe for summer and fall. You can get by with these shoes until it starts getting cold. I AM A HUGE FAN AND YOU SHOULD TRY THEM TOO!!!!!!
I hope all of you enjoy the last weeks of summer, and remember to always look fabulous wherever you go.

Keep your home beautiful and bright
